Welcome to Team Psychosocial
Hello to my friends and family members:
On April 7th Spring for Support 5K and Family Fun Day will be held at Duke University's East Campus. This annual event raises funding to provide support services for Duke Families facing cancer. A key element of these services are psychosocial services (including Medical Family Therapy). We aim to treat the whole person, which improves the healthcare outcome.
There will be a timed and untimed 5K, and this year we will be adding family fun crafts and games throughout the morning including a special performance from the Bouncing Bulldogs. We will have face painters, balloon sculptors and even some Marvel Comic superheroes. The tradition of the Foolishly Family Fun Obstacle Course will also continue and it will be complete with prizes for participation.
For additional event details, please visit SpringforSupport5K.org. On this site there are options to donate, register and/or sign-up to volunteer
What does my donation support?
100% of your donation will go directly to the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program. Our program believes that in order to treat cancer, you must treat the whole person! The services are provided to patients and their families at no cost. These services include, but are not limited to Medical Family Therapy, ChildLife, Recreation Therapy, Patient Navigators, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists. Additionally the program offers support groups, pet therapy, financial assistance programs, self-image services, smoking cessation, exercise consultations, and sexual health counseling. For a full listing of Duke Cancer Patient Support Program services offered at no cost, visit dukehealth.org/cancersupport.
Thanks for your consideration in supporting, in whatever way works for you, this worthy cause.
