Stroll for Nicole: Live Free
Fighter. Strong. Tough. Determined. Strong-willed. Confident. Blessed.
Nicole McGuinness suffered 3 seizures within 12 hours on December 22nd, 2015. Two days later, Christmas Eve 2015, Nicole underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor in the left frontal lobe of her brain at Duke University. January 2016, Nicole, her family and friends learned the tumor was a grade 4 Glioblastoma. After 6 weeks of daily chemotherapy (Temodar) and daily radiation, Nicole was missing over 1/4 of her hair (from the radiation) and exhausted from chemo. In March of 2016, Nicole began her clinical trial, Elevate, at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. She continued with 5 days of chemo a month until May of 2017. Her clinical trial also concluded during the summer of 2017.
Nicole has had mulitple MRI's since December of 2015. The most recent, January 3rd, 2018, showed what Dr. Randazzo called a "boring brain." Nicole, along with her family and friends are so very glad Nicole's brain is BORING! Nicole is not only surviving, she is kicking cancer's toosh!
Nicole is ever grateful for her family and friends. She is blessed by the support and encouragement. Stroll for Nicole has multiple participants during the Angels Among Us Walk in 2016 and 2017. Please join "Stroll for Nicole" to help support the Robert Preston Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke! Let's find a cure!
