Lynn's Grey Matters

In June of 2012, Lynn (Winkler) Hashemi was diagnosed with a Grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma, aka, a brain tumor. She underwent a biopsy, that gave us this diagnosis and told us that it was not removable with surgery. She underwent 6 weeks of radiation and also oral chemotherapy. Later, IV chemo was added to her regimen. In March of 2014, she was no longer able to tolerate the chemo anymore. With the support of her husband and family, she decided to enroll in Hospice care. As of November 2015, however, her MRIs have been stable so she was "graduated" off of Hospice.

Lynn and her family have now accepted the challenge of participating in Angels Among Us 3K Family Walk.

The funds raised at this event will support cutting-edge brain tumor research. At Duke, ground-breaking lab research is translated into treatments for patients more quickly than anywhere else. Your gift will give Duke's investigators the resources needed to push their research efforts at a much faster rate.
