I cannot believe that it has been 6 years since Chesley and I first found out about the Angels Among Us charity and its support for Brain Tumor research. By now you know that we support this organization after our son Tate suffered from a brain tumor in December 2005. Tate is now 8 years old and doing really well. He is in the first grade and excelling at all areas in school. He loves to play sports and wants to do anything that his older sister does. During Tate?s last visit to Duke for his yearly MRI he was cleared by the doctor with a clean bill of health and only has to visit the neurosurgeon and the oncologist at Duke every other year now.
We have been so fortunate with Tate's recovery and want to do all we can to help others and hopefully find a cure for brain tumors. Thanks to your support last year, we were able to raise over $16,000 to donate to 'Angels Among Us' and the Spring 2011 event raised over 1.8 million dollars. With your help over the last 6 years we have been able to donate over $80,000. The past October we held our 6th Annual Team Tate Pig Pickin' Tailgate at Virginia Tech and were able to raise over $8,000 to donate to this year's event. If all goes well with the event in April, we hope to raise $20,000 as a team and will have donated over $100,000 to help find a cure for Brain Tumors.
Chesley and I are asking for your support of 'Team Tate' again this year as we participate in the 5K Run and Family Fun Walk at Duke University's campus on April 28th. Please help us reach our goal of matching or beating the amount we raised last year.
