Blonde with a Brain!
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that nearly 7 years ago I would be diagnosed with a brain tumor!
I'll always treasure the support of the many friends and family members, aka 'my angels,' who stood with me through my brain tumor journey, surgery and recovery. I will also always remember how grateful I was that there was a place like the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. I’m alive and well and continue to receive great reports. But sadly, not everyone has that same outcome. That needs to change!
Here’s my ‘ask’ of you.
I hope you'll join me in spirit as I walk for the cause Saturday, April 29th at the 24th Annual Angels Among Us event. Your gift to my "Blonde With a Brain!" team will go a long way in the quest to enhance the kind of hope and cutting edge treatment I received at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
I’m also hoping you'll join me as I raise funds for a cause so near and dear to my heart – and my head! As I’ve learned from so many of my precious new friends who have also battled or are battling brain tumors, we just never know. So I fight on for a cure for them. I fight on in memory of those dear ones I've met who succumbed to their battle. And as always, I continue this fight with gratefulness for the hope that Duke's efforts are extending to folks I mentor and refer to Duke each year.
Angels Among Us is an annual uplifting, family walk/race event at Duke focused on brain tumors. It not only raises important unrestricted research funds for Duke's brain tumor center that can lead to cutting-edge treatments in centers worldwide, it celebrates the survivors and fondly remembers those who have fought, yet succumbed, to the brain tumor battle.
My personal fundraising deadline for Angels Among Us is Tuesday, April 25th. My ongoing commitment to raise critical research funds and give back in a significant way by putting my own money where my mouth – and my head – is!
Be assured, any amount your heart moves you to contribute - $10, $25, $50, you name it - will be thoughtfully and strategically used by Duke’s research scientists and clinicians to support their important unrestricted, non-government controlled research efforts that are moving us closer to a cure for the deadliest type of brain tumors (gliomas), while also improving the quality of life for all brain tumor patients.
