In Memory of Lee Wilson White
My dad was our Superman. His deep blue eyes and infectious
laughter lit up any dark place. He traveled all over the country but in those
eyes no matter who you were--you were important. In the midst of beeping
machines, dark hospital corridors, and a diagnosis that we never could quite
make sense of, he always managed to smile and laugh at my uncomfortable jokes.
He fought an unforgiving disease not for the sake of his comfort--but so that
he could laugh with us a little while longer. We would run to the moon for the
sake of his memory--much less run a 5K.
