We
have 4 children: Sarah, who is 13; Matthew, who is 10; Nathan, who
is 9 years old; and Tabitha, who is 6 years old. Nathan was born on Dec 28,
2006. In January 2009, Nathan was diagnosed with a grade 2 low grade
astrocytoma that was partially resected. In 2011, his cancer spread to
his spine. Since 2009, he has had brain and spinal cord surgery to
partially resect the tumors. His cancer has progressed 5 times and he has
been on 7 failed chemo or targeted therapies (Carboplatin, Vinblastine, Avastin,
Temodar, Etoposide, Revlimid, Everolimus) In April 2014, he started a
clinical trial of AZD6244 which he takes 2 times a day and will have to come
off of in April 2016. Nathan has asked the Lord Jesus Christ to be His Savior
and is confident that the Lord will heal him whether on earth or ultimately in
heaven. Nathan is full of life, love, joy, faith, and hope. Two of his
favorite Bible verses are: Luke 1:37, "Nothing is impossible with
God." Psalm 73:26, "My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart, He is mine forever." While there
are many things that cancer does, there are many things that cancer cannot do:
Cancer
is so limited
Yet
in all these things
It
cannot cripple love, it cannot alter hope
We
are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
It
cannot corrode faith, it cannot destroy peace
For
I am persuaded that neither death nor life...
It
cannot kill friendship, it cannot suppress memories
Nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height
or depth
It
cannot silence courage, it cannot invade the soul
Nor
any created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
It
cannot steal eternal life, it cannot conquer the spirit
Which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:37-39
