In Memory of Danny Seymour
October 12, 1948- March 22, 2003

Danny was diagnosed with GBM in August, 2001. We were told to get our affairs in order; because he had 6 months to live. I don’t think he would have even made 6 months if we hadn’t come to Duke.

By November of that year we were told the tumor was on his motor strip, and there was nothing that could be done. Fortunately, I had been in touch with Duke, and they told us to come on down. I literally wheeled Danny out of the hospital and drove him down, scared to death he wasn’t even going to make it there.

Once we arrived at Duke, my anxiety eased as we met such confident people. I knew if we had a chance it was there. Dr. Alan Friedman performed another surgery on Danny, cleaning the tumor off his motor strip. He had the monoclonal antibodies and did excellent for the next 14 months.

Danny was such a wonderful, loving, funny, terrific man. There is such a huge void in my life, but I am so thankful to Duke for giving us extra quality time. I will do the Angels Among Us walk every year I am able in memory of a very special man, my husband Danny and because I believe in Duke. Danny passed away March 22, 2003- the day of the Angels Among Us walk which I find comforting in itself.
