Amy Arnold

In Honor of Amy Arnold - Survivor

I would like to nominate my wife, Amy Arnold, to the Wall of Honor...

Amy was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumor (glioblastoma) in April 2009 and it was removed by Dr. Allan Friedman on April 20th.  Two weeks later, after her post op MRI, we were told it appeared he and his team had removed all of the tumor and we began our association with the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. Now, three years later, Amy is still cancer free!!!  I feel a huge part of her recovery is due to her strength and determination to beat this.

Having said that, we give all the kudos we can to Amy's wonderful medical team; from early radiation to the chemo team and last, but not least, the medical team Amy had at the Tisch Brain Tumor Center; which is so capably led by her neuro-oncologist, Dr. Katy Peters.  Katy has always made us feel Amy was her only patient and has always been Amy's biggest booster and has always had such encouragement for her.  We truly feel Katy is more friend than doctor and truly appreciate her support along with the other medical staff and receptionist etc., that have been such a big part of our lives for the past three years.

Now with the new cancer center, patients like Amy have a very warm and pleasant setting to continue treatment in.  Thank you to all of the supporters of the Angels Among Us for the huge contributions towards research of this horrible disease.  With their continued support we feel this will eventually be cured for good.  Until then, Amy and other survivors will fight against it with all their might!!!
